Play a Bird with Birbritter!
Birbritter is a little hack with all you need to play small bird (or birb) characters in the "very big and very dangerous world" of Mausritter.

You can read about the hack's genesis in this previous article.
Character creation rules largely follow those of Mausritter, with new tables to match the avian theme: "Birthsign" is now "Hatching order," "Coat" became "Plumage," and most physical details have been rewritten to cater to the quirks of a bird's appearance.
I almost gave up on including the various finger arrangements that can be found on bird feet given the obscure names ornithologists have for them, but I find them really cool, and I hope the drawings make it easy enough to understand (and maybe offer a glimpse of TTRPGs' educational potential?).
Left to right: an anysodactil (most songbirds), a zygodactyl (woodpeckers, parrots,...), a syndactyl(kingfishers,...), and a tridactyl (quails,...) right foot
I tried to keep the balance of the original 36 backgrounds by finding similar yet flavorful concepts for each HP/Pips combinations. Though the single body slot of the bird character sheet prevents them to wear any kind of armor following the Mausritter rules, I came up with an unrepairable eggshell armor for the "weakest" background, the Nest dropout.

If you are curious about the other backgrounds, or would like to give Birbritter a try, you can download it from Gourdin Konbo Club's Itch.io page.
I might work on a little adventure next?
